Top 5 Friday | Reading Goals For 2020

Reading Goals

2020 is here!! It really is hard to believe we are in a new decade, it still feels strange but yes this decade is over and 2019 is behind us. Like I mentioned on my 2019 Year recap, The past year hasn't been so kind to me and my mental health and I am hoping that things will get easier for me in 2020! And of course, I wish all of you that 2020 will only bring you good things.😉

I’m not a New Years' resolution person however, over the past year I realized it does help in keeping me more organized. I make a list of all the books I want to read in a year or even a month, and what types of books I plan to read so, here are my top five 2020 reading goals.

Reading Goals

READ 25 BOOKS

Last year my goal on Goodreads was to read 20 books and in the end, I read 21 books. I decided to increase the goal to 25 books simply because there are so many books I haven't gotten around to in 2019 and a lot of awesome new releases I'm hoping to get my hands on.  20 books is a minimum for me next year and hopefully, I can get through my TBR list and read 25 books or even more.

READ MORE NEW ADULT AND SCI-FI BOOKS

Even though most of my reads and reviews this year have been Young Adult I want to try and read more NA books with older protagonists. The problem is that many times when I look for a NA book it is mostly Romance which I am not that into. There are a few authors like V.E Schwab for example who write about older protagonists so It's a good place to start. For someone who enjoys the Sci-Fi genre when it comes to Movies or Tv Shows, I don't read enough Sci-Fi books so that is something I am hoping to improve.

READ THESE BOOKS:

There are quite a few books I planned to read in 2019 but just ran out of time! some of these include:
  • Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare
  • Finish The Raven Cycle series and read Call Down The Hawk.
  • Read more books by V.E Schwab!
  • Finish the Throne of Glass series. I truly thought I would finish the series this year. I feel okay with not finishing it yet because the series has been with me throughout last year and I love getting back to the world every time I start the next book. It is my goal to finally finish the series in 2020.

READ MORE BOOKS ABOUT THESE TYPES OF CHARACTERS

Another one of my goals for 2020 is to read more books with protagonists or characters that deal with anxiety, social anxiety or depression. As someone who struggles with these issues sometimes it's easy for me to just turn away from these problems and not look at characters in media that portray these issues, but at the same time, these are characters I can relate too! I hope to find more light-hearted or humorous books that tackle these issues.

WRITE MORE BOOK REVIEWS

My hope for 2020 is to write better book reviews. In order to improve I need to write more reviews, even if it's not a full review and just a shorter one. I want to try and be more consistent with posting my reviews here and on Goodreads. I plan to find more useful book review tips that will help me improve my book reviews in 2020.
